The largest room in the castle, modelled on the Singers' Hall at Wartburg Castle and decorated with frescoes from the Parzival saga — Ludwig's tribute to Richard Wagner.
Ludwig's bedroom features intricate neo-Gothic wood carvings that took 14 craftsmen over 4 years to complete. The artificial grotto leading to the study is a unique theatrical touch.
The pedestrian iron bridge spanning the Pöllat gorge offers the most iconic view of the castle. Reachable in 25 minutes on foot from the castle or 15 minutes from the upper shuttle stop. Closed in icy conditions.
Across the valley, the yellow childhood home of Ludwig II is full of original furniture and frescoes. Easily combined in the same day with a combo ticket.
For a different perspective, ride the Tegelbergbahn cable car up to 1,720 m for sweeping views over the castles, the Alpsee lake and the Bavarian foothills.
